Understanding surrogate endpoints in peptide research

A surrogate endpoint is a measurement thought to predict a clinical outcome—examples include certain hormone levels, inflammatory markers, or telomere-length proxies. Surrogates can accelerate research, but they can also mislead if the link to patient-important outcomes is weak or unproven.
