Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, so FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. Compounding can serve limited patient-specific needs, but it is not the same as approval of a finished drug product. The distinction changed how I read product pages. If a page makes the source or status difficult to understand, that is a reason to slow down rather than fill in the gaps.
